Police prepare for drunk driving shenanigans

As residents make their St. Patrick's Day plans, local law enforcement officials want them to know they will be out in force looking for drunk drivers.
The Middletown Police Department announced today, March 11, they will be targeting drunk drivers and aggressive driving around St. Patrick's Day with a grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
Officers will target speeding, seatbelts and alcohol offenses in various Middletown neighborhoods and business districts, according to a release from the police department.
Middletown residents can report criminal activity or possibly impaired drivers by calling (513) 425-7700.
Data recently released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that 851 people across the country lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes on St. Patrick's Day. Of those, 327 were killed in crashes involving a driver with a blood alcohol level at or above .08.
