Do you need to get to your doctor's office, but have no car? Do you feel so weak after you receive chemotherapy or radiation therapy that you would like someone to drive you to and from your treatments? Did you have surgery recently and your surgeon told you not to drive, but also told you to have physical therapy three times a week and you wonder how you will get there?
Then the McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital's Non-Emergency Medical Transport Van may be just what you need.
The lack of public transportation in Oxford makes it difficult for some people to receive needed health care.
McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital responded to this need almost 20 years ago by starting the Non-Emergency Medical Transport Van (formerly known as the SAGE Coach).
The Non-Emergency Medical Transport provides medical/wellness transportation to:
• McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, the McCullough-Hyde Medial Office Building and the McCullough-Hyde Physical Therapy office in Hamilton;
• A physician's office (the physician must practice at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital); and
• A treatment at another facility or to a physician's office outside of Oxford when ordered by a physician on staff at McCullough-Hyde and when the service is not available at McCullough-Hyde Hospital (i.e. radiation therapy at Fort Hamilton).
To assist as many people as possible, the Non-Emergency Medical Transport Van limits transportation to: clients who live in the Talawanda School District (City of Oxford, Hanover, Milford, Oxford and Reily townships), those who live in Hamilton; and the Villages of Camden and College Corner, Ohio/Indiana.
The hours of operation for the transport service are 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. The transport service is closed on holidays. There is no rider fee. Donations are accepted and assist with support of the van.
To make an appointment for a ride, call (513) 524-5555.
McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital is grateful to The McCullough-Hyde Trust and The United Way of Oxford, who have graciously continued to provide funding that allows the Non-Emergency Medical Transport van to continue to providing this much needed service.
The United Way of Oxford 2008 campaign is now in progress. To donate, visit www.uwoxford.org or call (513) 523-0991.
