MIDDLETOWN — Atrium Medical Center officials confirmed today, Oct. 21, that they will be cutting an undisclosed amount of positions as well as repositioning some of its personnel to increase efficiency at its new location.

Staff changes and cuts will come from both health care and non-patient caregiver positions. The hospital has yet to disclose the number of positions that will be terminated, said Wendy Parks, Atrium's director of marketing and communications.

"We have been shifting some people around and rebalancing staff across the organization and that is just to make us more efficient in this new facility," she said. "Some of these changes have resulted in people leaving Atrium Medical Center. To the best of our ability, we are placing people in different positions around Atrium or in different parts of the (Premier Health) system, but we have not been able to do that for everyone."

Earlier this month, hospital officials announced they would be cutting their retiree Medicare supplement plan. Atrium has also cut five senior director positions and closed the Bariatric Wellness Center in order to stay ahead financially.
