AKERS FAMILY
Screenings scheduled for local episode of 'Extreme Makeover'
Tuesday, September 30, 2008
Area residents who plan to watch this weekend's episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," featuring West Chester Twp.'s Akers family are welcome to watch it with them.
The Akers have extended an invitation to the community to gather at 6 p.m. Oct. 5 at Princeton Pike Church of God to view the 8 p.m. episode that will show the process it took in July to build their new home on Manor Drive. The auditorium at 6101 Princeton-Glendale Road in Liberty Twp. can seat up to 4,000 people and has four screens to view the ABC show that will air at 8 p.m.
The event will thank those who helped the Akers build a handicap-accessible home for their two daughters Brooke, 8, and Faith, 4. The girls have spinal muscular atrophy and have limited mobility. Their son Christian, 10, has Crohn's disease.
At another screening, The University of Cincinnati Fraternity and Sorority Community is going to watch the premier in the Tangeman University Center Cinema. The Akers were one of the families the Fraternity and Sorority Community sponsored through the Make-A-Wish Foundation last year and granted wishes to Christian and Brooke.
