Staff Report
Six people were injured in a multiple-vehicle crash Saturday, July 18 in Wayne Twp.
At 2:19 p.m. a 1991 Plymouth minivan driven by Dale Tucker, 38, of Dayton was traveling east on Ohio 73 near Furnas-Oglesby Road when he attempted to pass several vehicles in a no-passing zone, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lebanon post. While he was traveling in the opposing lane, the lead eastbound vehicle attempted to turn left onto Furnas-Oglesby Road. That 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by Lelia Rossbach, 25, of Hamilton was struck in the left side by Tucker's vehicle, according to the patrol.
After impact, Rossbach's car went off the north side of the road. Ron Aurand of Kent, Ohio, a passenger in Rossbach's car who was riding in the rear hatch area, was ejected from the car, sustaining serious injuries, and Tucker was reported with critical injuries. Both were transported via CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. As of Monday both had been released.
A total of six people, including Tucker and Aurand, were taken to hospitals with minor to moderate injuries, including three children ranging in age from 7 months to 4 years.
The crash remains under investigation. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor, according to the patrol. Charges are pending.
