Deerfield flexible on zoning changes

Township expected to vote July 24 on proposed amendments.

One of the biggest critics of Deerfield Twp. is pleased with the changes trustees have made to the proposed residential transitional zoning amendments.

"Overall, I think they have made a lot of progress and a lot of improvement," George Pitstick said.

The Timber Rail Lane resident would be impacted by the new zoning district, which is north of Fields-Ertel Road and west of Wilkens Boulevard. The former zoning official has been vocal in recent months on the proposed changes, and he rallied many of his neighbors to attend a public hearing last week.

The township trustees gave a first reading to the amendments Tuesday, July 15, only after many concerns voiced by residents were addressed.

The final reading and vote are scheduled for July 24.
