Wizards rock out

to magical music

The Harry Potter mania inspired Wizard Rock, a musical movement dating from 2002 that consists of national bands, made up of young musicians, playing songs about the hallowed wizard himself.

A free concert will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at the Montessori Academy of Cincinnati, 8293 Duke Blvd. Doors open at 6 p.m. The concert will feature The Whomping Willows, The Remus Lupins and The Mudbloods. The event is perfect for muggles of all ages.

Tour showcases bamboo's versatility

Burton's Bamboo Garden, 7352 Gheils Carroll Road, Morrow, offers personal tours through its display gardens, by appointment only. Tours last about one hour and focus on the versatility of bamboo. The tour touches on privacy screening, barrier uses for control and landscaping options using dwarf bamboo. Exotic birds and Chinese granite statuary also are visible. Tour cost is $5.

Cruise-in for

ice cream at lake

Return to the days of those classic cars at Caesar's Creek Pioneer Village during the cruise-in and open house from 10 a.m. to

5 p.m. Saturday, July 19, and

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at the Waynesville park.

The village will come alive with autos from bygone eras, while visitors enjoy an ice cream festival and solid gold music Saturday. The village will hold an open house Sunday for visitors to take a step back even further in time.

Paddlesports

class is all wet

Paddle your way through the Little Miami River as the Miami Group Sierra Club presents a level one kayaking class at 8:15 a.m. July 20 at the Little Miami River, 2247 Moore Sauer Road, in Morrow. Participants will learn to paddle in current, including ferries, eddy turns, safety and self rescue. All types of kayaks are welcome. Participants will get wet. Class cost is $85.

Registration is required by calling (513) 321-3187. Other classes offered by the group include sailing, sailboarding and paddling.

Memory of local soldier rides on

The fourth annual benefit ride in memory of Lance Cpl. Taylor Prazynski, United States Marine Corps, and all veterans, will begin at noon July 20. Register in advance or on the day of ride. Breakfast will be available from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $15 per bike, $10 for each additional rider. Proceeds will benefit Impact a Hero. Rain date is July 27.
