Weatherwise
June 2008 was a little drier than 2007, but still has an impressive year to date total, according to John F. Stephenson, Cooperative River and Rainfall Observer for the National Weather Service at the Kings Mills Station. The month recorded 3.75 inches on 14 days with the largest rainfall amount occurring at 1.40 inches on the 5th. June 2007 recorded 5.31 inches. The year to date total shows 2008 at 29.84 inches and 2007 at 21.78 inches. If you apply a simple average we could have close to a 60-inch year, but as they say in weather circles, "don't count your raindrops before they fall!"
The river was busy the first part of the month with a reading of 16.01 feet on the 4th. It was down to 13.37 feet at 7 a.m. on the 5th. The low reading for the month was 4.90 feet on the 25th.
