WARREN COUNTY – The Kings Local Schools superintendent search is down to the wire.
Kings will soon replace retiring superintendent Chuck Mason in the southern Warren County district which numbers approximately 3,700 students. Mason's yearly salary is $121,505.
Edgewood City Schools Superintendent Tom York is one of the two finalists. He retired from his Trenton-based position at the end of June. The Edgewood district has about 3,900 students.
The other candidate is Greeneview Local Schools Superintendent Valerie Browning.
Greeneview, based in Jamestown, Ohio, serves about 1,500 students in Greene County.
Warren County Superintendent John Lazares has been identifying candidates for the board to interview. He said he convinced Browning, who did not initially seek the job, to interview for the position. She had a second interview Monday, June 30.
York was brought before the board June 28 for his second interview.
District representatives will meet both candidates at two question-and-answer sessions on Tuesday, July 8.
A decision will be made sometime after Tuesday, Lazares said.
