Teachers honored at St. Michael's

Xavier University recently presented several certificates of achievement to select members of the St. Michael School faculty. The honorees and their area of recognition are Yolanda Aragon, sixth grade teacher, was recognized for outstanding performance in the Initiative for Catholic School Science program; Judy Everly, fifth grade teacher, was recognized for outstanding performance in the Initiative for Catholic Schools Math program; and Jody Farrell, principal, was recognized for outstanding performance in the Initiative for Catholic Schools Executive Leadership program.

Faucheux named outstanding volunteer at St. Gabe's

Saint Gabriel Consolidated School has honored Debbie Faucheux of Liberty Twp. with the eighth annual Norman A. Breines Outstanding Volunteer Award. This award is given in memory of Norman A. Breines, who was a tireless volunteer for Saint Gabriel Consolidated School before his death in 1999.

Over the past four years, Debbie led the Race for Education which raised $100,000 for the school. Debbie and her husband Scott are the parents of four children who have attended Saint Gabriel - Ryan, Stephanie, Emily and Steven.

St. Gabriel teachers announce retirement

Three longtime faculty members at Saint Gabriel Consolidated School have announced their retirement. Retiring are Mary Lou Bea, a Language Arts junior high faculty member for over 25 years; Jacquie Breines, a first grade teacher for more than 20 years; and Angie Charron, a fourth grade teacher and Director of Religious Education with more than 10 years of dedication to the school, following a lengthy career in inner city Catholic education.

Principal Joe Epplen celebrated their achievements and dedication to St. Gabriel, "These ladies will be greatly missed after making immeasurable contributions to Saint Gabriel over many years. They have earned the right to their retirement and we wish them well. The good news is they have all agreed to return as substitutes when we need them!"

Schultz named tops in arts

Terri Schultz, a language arts teachers at Liberty Jr. School, has been named one of the most effective reading teachers in the state of Ohio by Battelle for Kids.

Raymond Walters to offer assistance with college costs

Automatic scholarship given to tops in high school class

Raymond Walters College is helping families better offset the cost of college has initiated a new "Academic Outreach Scholarship" which will be awarded to incoming freshman students who are ranked in the top 25 percent of their high school graduating class.

This $1,500 scholarship will be awarded automatically to qualifying incoming freshman students in $500 installments each quarter of their first year as long as students maintain a 3.0 grade-point average. There is no need to submit an application or other paperwork as the indication of ranking is typically reflected on high school transcripts.

According to Doran Brock, Senior Financial Aid Advisor at Raymond Walters College, "This scholarship has been created to provide additional financial support to students who have already begun proving their academic success. We want to encourage their continued growth throughout their first year of college."

RRCP has openings for upcoming school year

Royal Redeemer Christian Preschool, on Dutchland Pkwy. in Liberty Twp., is committed to providing a quality program of Christian education and growth for young children in Liberty Township and the surrounding communities.
