Thursdays bring barbecue together with blues
City Barbeque presents Barbeque and Blues, 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday evenings in July at its West Chester location. Blues music will serenade attendees on the patio as they chow down on award-winning ribs and pulled pork sandwiches. For more information, call (513) 755-0518.
Fun and free kids' activities at area parks
West Chester Parks and Recreation will offer several events for youngsters during the upcoming week.

Men's softball league set to play
MidLife Softball, a men's 35 and older softball league is ready to swing into action. Games will be Monday nights in July and August at Keehner Park. Dads can bring an adult son to play also. Music festivals heat up weekends at the Beach
The Hot Island Music Festival and the Miller Lite Reggae Fest kick off this weekend at the Beach Waterpark. Each weekend through Aug. 31, visitors can enjoy smooth sounds, sun, sand and happy hour on the Kokomo Kove Stage. Live island music will play 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday afternoons and reggae music, 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday afternoons, when a new reggae band will be featured each week. Both are free with park admission. Spirit Song to soar starting Thursday
Kings Island will once again host Spirit Song, a three-day Christian music festival, beginning Thursday, July 10 and continuing through Saturday, July 12. Different bands and various guest speakers are scheduled to perform nightly, including Newsboys, David Crowder Band, Skillet and Toby Mac.
