Art gallery opens with reception on Saturday

A reception is planned during the gallery grand opening displaying artwork by Chuck Marshall and Greg Storer. The event will be held 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at Gallery 42 Fine Art, 105 E. Main St.

Music festivals heat up weekends at The Beach

The Hot Island Music Festival and the Miller Lite Reggae Fest kick off this weekend at The Beach Waterpark. Each weekend through Aug. 31, visitors can enjoy smooth sounds, sun, sand and happy hour on the Kokomo Kove Stage.

Live island music will play 2 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and reggae music, 2 to 5 p.m. Sundays, with a new reggae band featured each week.

Wizards, witches

and muggles to

ride the rails

The Muggle Express will ride into town, winding its way through Warren County, stopping at the Lebanon Station.

Join other wizard wannabes in a costume contest, learn muggle magic tricks and purchase official Harry Potter candy on board. Stroll through downtown Lebanon with other movie characters and eat a fabulous feast at the Golden Lamb. Train rides are 11 a.m., 12:15 and 1:30 p.m. Saturdays, July 5, 12 and 19.

St. Susanna to host Hoxworth blood drive

St. Susanna parish will conduct a community blood drive for Hoxworth Blood Center, from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, in the school cafeteria, 500 Reading Road.

Spirit Song music festival starts July 10

Kings Island will once again host Spirit Song, a three-day Christian music festival, beginning July 10 and continuing through July 12. Different bands and various guest speakers are scheduled to perform nightly, including Newsboys, David Crowder Band, Skillet and Toby Mac.

The cost is $44 each day and includes park admission. Concert-only tickets will be $30; one-, two- and three-day passes also are available.
