Whimsical, magical Seuss, Disney characters to take the stage
Two musicals suitable for the whole family will begin running next week at area theatres.
The Cat in the Hat catapults on stage to narrate "Suessical the Musical" as it begins a short run at the Loveland Stage Company Theatre as part of its summer theater workshop. The show will run July 9 to 13 at the theatre, 111 S. Second St. A plethora of whimsical Seuss characters mix with new ones, weaving in and out of a conglomeration of scenarios lifted from stories originally written by Seuss. La Comedia invites families to be its guests as it presents the magical Disney production, "Beauty and the Beast." The classic fairy tale comes alive, Wednesdays through Sundays, July 9-Aug. 31 at the dinner theatre, 765 W. Central Ave., Springboro. Matinee and evening shows are available and prices vary. Music festivals
heat up weekends
at Beach Waterpark
The Hot Island Music Festival and the Miller Lite Reggae Fest kick off this weekend at the Beach Waterpark. Each weekend through Aug. 31, visitors can enjoy smooth sounds, sun, sand and happy hour on the Kokomo Kove Stage.
Live island music will play 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday afternoons and reggae music, 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday afternoons, when a new reggae band will be featured each week.

Spirit Song to soar starting Thursday
Kings Island will again host Spirit Song, a three-day Christian music festival, beginning Thursday, July 10, and continuing through Saturday, July 12. Different bands and various guest speakers are scheduled to perform nightly, including Newsboys, David Crowder Band, Skillet and Toby Mac.
The cost is $44 each day, which includes park admission. Concert only tickets will be $30; one-, two- and three-day passes are also available.

Riding camps galloping all summer at farms
Summer riding camps continue trotting throughout the summer at local horse farms.
Kubicki Equestrian Center, 2675 Carriagegate Lane, Maineville, offers weekly camps, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Aug. 22, geared for beginner and intermediate riders.

Have Fun Acres Inc., 6846 Morrow Cozzadale Road, Morrow, offers weekly camps, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Aug. 8, for all levels.
