Kings superintendent search down to Edgewood, Greeneview leaders

The search for a new Kings Local Schools superintendent is winding down.
The board of education announced today, June 27, that it has identified two finalists to possibly replace retiring Superintendent Chuck Mason in the southern Warren County district which numbers approximately 3,700 students. Mason?s yearly salary is $121,505.
Edgewood City Schools Superintendent Tom York is one of the two finalists. He will retire from his Trenton-based position at the end of June. The Edgewood district has about 3,900 students.
The other candidate is Greeneview Local Schools Superintendent Valerie Browning.
Greeneview, based in Jamestown, serves about 1,500 students in Greene County, about 50 miles north of the Cincinnati area.
Warren County Superintendent John Lazares has been identifying candidates for the board to interview. He said he convinced Browning, who did not initially seek the job, to interview for the position, which took place June 25.
She will interview again early next week. York will be interviewed Saturday, June 28.
The board will have a special meeting at 8 a.m. June 28 and 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 30 at the Kings Education Center, 1797 King Ave., to discuss the search. The majority of the meetings will be spent in executive session, Treasurer Mike Mowery said. No action is expected to be taken at the meetings.
