The 4th of July is around the corner and to celebrate, Hamilton Twp. is having their second annual Independence Day Festival from Friday, June 27 to Sunday, June 29.

"This is such a great family event and a chance for everyone to come out and have a good time at an affordable price," Festival organizer Mark Greatorex said.

The festival opens at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 27 at Testerman Park in Maineville where food, games, Kissel Brothers rides and the first ever Hamilton Twp. Idol Competition will kick off the three-day festival. Organizers say families can save money on ride tickets if they purchase them in advance at kisselbros.com.

Saturday is also a day packed of local events and activities — like the traditional Independence Day parade. It will start at 11 a.m. near the township administration building and go down Ohio 48, turn on West Foster Maineville Road and follow Maineville Road to the festival's location. New activities from a sack race to pie contest and a raffle will fill the day. Raffle tickets will be $2 each and many items from a Longaberger basket to sporting event tickets and more will be raffled off. There will also be a row of local vendors selling crafts and other items.

The night will end with live entertainment at 8 p.m. by Scott Luck and the Midnight Thunder and will be followed with a Rozzi fireworks show.
