Police find cocaine in College Corner Pike residence

Oxford Police arrested a pair of local residents for possession of crack cocaine June 6, resulting from a tip on drug activity in the area.

Officers arrived at 5032 College Corner Pike #58 shortly before 7 p.m., knocking on the door of the residence. Police spoke with Mary Jo Fritzsche, 45, 5201 College Corner Pike #16, noting they could detect the odor of marijuana coming from the apartment.

Haile Travis, 37, of 11 N. Elm St., was inside the dwelling, police said standing over a marijuana roach on the floor. Travis allegedly admitted the roach was his, prompting officers to check the couch he had been sitting on moments earlier.

Police reportedly located a plastic bag containing what appeared to be crack cocaine stuffed in the couch cushions, along with a bag of marijuana nearby. Officers handcuffed Travis, placing him under arrest for possession of crack cocaine.

Further investigation showed an outstanding warrant for Fritzsche from Hamilton Police for possession of drugs, police said. A quick search of the chair she had been sitting on and her purse allegedly uncovered both a small rock of suspected crack cocaine and a device that tested positive for cocaine.

Fritzsche was arrested for possession of crack cocaine and transported, along with Travis, to the Butler County Jail.

Upset driver reportedly punches fellow motorist

A College Corner man reportedly suffered a substantial amount of road rage June 14, attacking another driver on South Locust Street.

Police arrested 40-year-old Franklin Gross, 10494 Camden-College Corner Road, after he allegedly got out of his vehicle and struck the driver of a vehicle behind him. Officers observed Gross walking away from the driver's side of a red truck at 3:30 p.m., headed back toward a black SUV.

After speaking with Gross and the other driver, police discovered that Gross had stopped his vehicle, walked back to the truck parked behind him and assaulted the driver. Police noted that the victim's eye was bruising over the course of their investigation. Gross was eventually charged with assault, police said.

Student drenched, threatened at Uptown bar

While enjoying a night out with friends, one Miami University student allegedly had a drink poured over her head and was threatened.

Police said the 22-year-old female student was inside Brick Street Bar on June 13 speaking with friends when a male walked up behind her and dumped liquid on her head. The victim told police he then made derogatory comments toward her, grabbed the back of her dress and threatened to knock her out.

The victim reportedly tried to walk away from the subject, who repeatedly blocked her path. Police said she eventually got away from the aggressor and reported the incident to a bouncer at the bar.

Police have not made an arrest in the case, but said the female was able to provide them with the suspect's name.

BB gun-toting student arrested for discharge

A Miami University student was arrested June 7 after police received reports he had allegedly been shooting a BB gun outside.

Brian Hogan, 22, 16 E. Collins Ave., had left the site of the incident by the time police arrived, but was eventually apprehended. Further investigation of the incident reportedly showed Hogan had been standing in the front yard of his residence, discharging the rifle.

Hogan was arrested and taken to the Butler County Jail, cited for discharging firearms and an outdoor furniture violation.

Intoxicated student unable to recall name, birthday

A 21-year-old Miami University student was reportedly passed out on the sidewalk, unable to get to her feet last week.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on June 14, police observed Katherine McDowell, 5262 Brown Road #301H, attempting to get up from the sidewalk twice, falling back to the ground both times. Officers spoke with McDowell, who they said was unable to tell them her name or when she was born.

Oxford Life Squad assisted in transported McDowell to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital for medical care. McDowell was cited for public intoxication and released to the care of hospital staff.
