Parade to take new route

• VFW Post 6069 will host a Memorial Day parade at 11 a.m. in downtown Lebanon on Monday, May 26. The parade will begin on South Street and continue north on Broadway to east on Warren Street. The parade will conclude with a ceremony at the Warren County Veterans' Memorial, at the corner of Warren and High Street.

This year's guest speaker is Mark Rizzo, a Vietnam veteran and incoming commander of VFW Post 6069. Veterans and community groups are encouraged to participate.

Mason

Parade to Rose Hill Cemetery

The Mason American Legion Post 194 will sponsor Mason's annual Memorial Day parade at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 26.

It will go north along Reading Road to Main Street and right onto Mason-Montgomery Road, where a memorial service will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

The parade will have four grand marshals: Two veterans from World War II, one from Korea and one from Vietnam. They are Walter Cummins, Elmer Meyer, Jack Weisbrod and Ron Pennington.

City officials, police and fire departments, high school bands, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts will participate. Jerry Pelfry from Grace Baptist Church will give the invocation.

Following the ceremony, the VFW will have a memorial service for Lt. Robert N. Mounts at his grave sit. The American Legion Post 194 will also have a memorial service at the grave of Joe Barr.

A free community luncheon will be served until 2 p.m. at the Legion post on Reading Road.

Morrow

Still time to sign up for parade

Bob Blankenship, commander of the Morrow VFW Post 8202, is making plans for the Morrow Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26.

All organizations wanting to participate should meet at 1 p.m. at the staging area at the Morrow Elementary School on Pike Street. The parade will begin at 2 p.m.

The parade will turn right out of Morrow Elementary and proceed to the bridge for a brief ceremony to honor comrades lost at sea. The parade will continue down Pike Street, turning right on Second Street and stop at the Salem Twp. Cemetery for a Memorial Day ceremony.

After the ceremony, parade participants, veterans, and veteran's family members are invited to the VFW post at 315 Second St. for sandwiches, chips and soft drinks.

Revolutionary War monument to be dedicated

The Otterbein-Lebanon Veterans Committee will dedicate a commemorative monument to the eight veterans of the Revolutionary War who lived and died at the Shaker Community of Union Village.

The ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, May 26 at the Otterbein Cemetery, located on the northwest corner of Ohio 63 and Ohio 741.

Union Twp./South Lebanon

Parade on Monday to Deerfield Cemetery

The Union Twp./South Lebanon Memorial Day parade is set for Monday, May 26.

The parade will line up at 10 a.m. at the Station 46 firehouse, located on Pike Street.

The parade will start at 11 a.m. and go to Deerfield Cemetery.

A service at the cemetery will follow and Warren County Sheriff Tom Ariss, a U.S. Army veteran, will be the keynote speaker.
