Waynesville schools pick Little Miami leader

WAYNESVILLE — Patrick Dubbs, director of administrative services for Little Miami Local Schools, is the new Waynesville school superintendent.
The Wayne Local school board approved Dubbs' contract Monday, May 12, and the Little Miami school board is expected to accept his resignation on Tuesday, May 20.

"I am very thankful for my time at Little Miami," Dubbs said. "It has afforded me a vast range of administrative experiences that has prepared me for the Waynesville superintendency."
Dubbs will begin his duties Aug. 1, when Superintendent Tom Isaacs begins his new job as the assistant superintendent to John Lazares of the Warren County Educational Service Center. Isaacs said he will work with Dubbs until then to ensure a smooth transition.
"Pat has developed quite an outstanding reputation in the education community for his commitment to excellence and our school community is fortunate to have attracted such a strong educational leader," Isaacs said.
Dubbs said Waynesville residents have "great pride for their schools and town," which he said was reminiscent of his hometown in Darke County.
Dubbs first big project will be to convince voters to approve a 10-mill emergency operating levy. The property tax proposal, rejected by voters in March, will appear on the ballot either in a special election in August or the general election in November.
Dubbs will receive a raise of nearly $14,500 more than what he made with Little Miami, as his base salary in Waynesville will be $116,000.
Dubbs moved to Little Miami in 2001 as the junior high principal. Three years later, he moved into his most recent position, overseeing the construction and renovation program for Little Miami while managing the food service, maintenance, technology and transportation departments and human resources.
Dubbs has a bachelor's degree in education from Anderson University, a master's degree and his supervisor and principal licensure from the University of Dayton, and his superintendent license from Xavier University.
