Lakota West's May 10 cabaret a time of dancing and dessert
Thursday, May 01, 2008
It will be a night of familiar tunes May 10 at the Lakota West Theatre during a scholarship fundraiser.
Songs from "Sweeney Todd," "Wicked," "Little Shop of Horrors" and "Sunset Boulevard" are just a few of the musicals to be featured at the 8 p.m. Broadway Bound dessert cabaret.

"We all really enjoy it," said senior Jon Kovach of the school's Musical Theater Review show choir. "As a choir, we went to go see a Broadway show this year. We're all really hyped about Broadway."
The performing arts scholarship will be awarded in honor of founding choreographer Nancy Goodwin, who died of breast cancer. The amount of the scholarship will be determined by ticket sales for the event as well as private donations. The goal, organizers said, is to award $2,500 in scholarship money to a student who plans to study music or theater in college.
The winner is determined by four factors in a point system: GPA, character, service to Lakota West Theatre and talent. The student with the highest score will be announced at the cabaret.
"It's a really good opportunity not only for a student to achieve a scholarship, but also to donate to a good cause in Nancy's name," said senior Jen Shroder. "We definitely have felt the influence she has left on the theater."
