Traffic could slow as result of public works projects

MONROE — Several public works projects are being launched in Monroe beginning Friday, May 2, that may cause some traffic delays in the area.
The Norfolk Southern Railroad will be repairing the crossing on Cincinnati-Dayton Road in two sections, said Brad Collins, Monroe's public works director.

Get latest headlines via RSS feedsPlans call for the railroad to begin repairing the southbound lanes. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction, Collins said. The lanes will be open Tuesday, May 6. The railroad will then begin work on the northbound lanes beginning Friday, May 9. They will open Tuesday, May 13.
That work will be followed by the Todhunter Road Bridge Replacement Project beginning on Monday, May 5.
Plans call for SK Construction to close Todhunter Road from North Yankee to South Yankee Road, Collins said. Detour signs are being posted along the route this week. This project is scheduled for completion in 150 days, he said.
Broshear Contractors also will begin the Greenridge Storm Replacement Project on May 5. Carol Ann, Serena Way and Neiderlander Lane will be closed to through traffic.
The storm sewer, which is being replaced because it's old, is located along several streets in the Greenridge neighborhood, which is located off Ohio 4 and Todhunter Road. The project is scheduled for completion by July 30, Collins said.
