FAIRFIELD — A few dozen people picked up their blue Bob Evans coffee mugs this morning, April 29, and toasted Joe Nuxhall as his chair at the Ohio 4 restaurant was retired.

"Cheers to the Ol' Lefthander, rounding third and heading for the Reds Hall of Fame," said son Kim Nuxhall, who for many years sat next to and ate breakfast with the former Cincinnati Reds broadcaster and hall of fame pitcher.

After the toast, the younger Nuxhall and Bob Evans Area Director Steve Schott removed the stool Joe Nuxhall sat in and ate his breakfast for so many mornings. It will be displayed in the Ol' Lefthander exhibit at the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum at Great American Ball Park.

Joe Nuxhall died in November.

"I think a lot of the people here is the reason Dad came here to start his day," said Kim Nuxhall. "It's kind of fitting that its going to the Reds Hall of Fame."
