McCullough-Hyde center in Ross expands service area

Quality and convenience are creating a winning combination for Hamilton's Ross Medical Center.

One of four area facilities in McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital's family, the Ross Medical Center, located at 2449 Ross-Millville Road, Hamilton, provides strictly outpatient services for patients. The center will celebrate its grand opening May 4, giving locals an opportunity to meet with physicians and tour the building.

Tammy Wood, vice president and chief administrative officer with McCullough-Hyde, said patients have been coming to the center steadily since it opened in early February. She said the convenient location coupled with the number of services offered have helped create a streamlined process.

"If they see a physician, they can stop by and get their lab work or X-ray done on the way out the door instead of going over to Oxford or another area hospital," Wood said. "We're making it a lot more convenient for people.

The building houses several impressive pieces of technology, including a cutting-edge MRI machine. Whereas Wood said McCullough-Hyde previously lost one of every five patients to a different hospital due to the cramped nature of the machines, the center's open bore MRI has a substantially larger opening on both ends.

"We used to send patients who were obese or claustrophobic to Cincinnati hospitals for the procedure," she said. "With this new machine, we can accommodate almost anyone. Patients truly love it."

All of the center's imaging and laboratory equipment manage medical records digitally, significantly reducing the amount of time patients have to wait for results.

"The picture is taken and the tech can immediately send it to the radiologist, who is able to read it and forward information to the physician," Wood said. "A lot of patients will get the results of an MRI within a day."

The Medical Center houses several other practices, including a space for the Ross division of Indian Creek Family Health Center. Shannon Maddock, office manager with Indian Creek, said the location has drawn business from all over the region.

"A lot of people from eastern Indiana have been coming over here," Maddock said. "It's a central location to a lot of different areas and really offers one-stop shopping."

Future plans include opening an urgent care section this summer, an in-house pharmacy in September and potentially adding an optometrist and dentist to the center further down the road.

"We're planning to build out more timeshare space," Wood said. "Doctors are calling us in hopes of getting a space here after seeing how successful we've been."
