By Staff Report

Thursday, April 17, 2008

A Fairfield Twp. Life Squad got more than it bargained for in treating a patient who paramedics thought was a pregnant woman.

The patient could not speak much English but wanted to be taken to a hospital from a Speedway at 3450 Tylersville Road, according to police reports.

A life squad staff member told police that while en route to Mercy Hospital Fairfield on Monday, April 14, they lifted the patient's dress to check for signs of crowning because the patient appeared to be far along in pregnancy. That's when they discovered the patient was male.

The patient, who identified himself as "Mayra," said he was depressed and "just wanted to go the hospital," according to the report. No further action was taken, police said.
