Amylin named as one of top development deals in nation

Site Selection magazine recently released its annual list of Top Deals and Top Groups.

West Chester's own Amylin Pharmaceuticals has been named one of the top deals for 2007, with an impact of $400 million and more than 500 jobs. In evaluating the top economic development projects of the year, the editors of Site Selection took into account total capital investment, number of jobs created, regional economic impact, value of jobs created, creativity of the deal, role of incentives in the deal, competition for the project to locate elsewhere, and speed to market.

In addition, the Cincinnati USA Partnership was named one of the Top 10 economic development groups in the nation. Local economic development groups were first ranked according to four objective categories: new jobs, new jobs per 10,000 residents, new investment amount and new investment per 10,000 residents. Then they were also evaluated on more subjective attributes — among them innovation, leadership and customer service.

Vanguard imaging partners names new physician liaison

Vanguard Imaging Partners recently announced the appointment of Elizabeth Combs as the company's new physician liaison. Combs' responsibilities include marketing and sales, and she will work directly with physicians and their staffs in the Miami Valley.

Combs has extensive professional history in the medical field that will aid her in marketing the services offered by Vanguard. She was formerly a dietary consultant at a long-term care facility and also worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative. Combs earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from the University of Kentucky and also completed an internship at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

Joining the Vanguard team is an exciting career move for Combs. "I feel it is a good fit for me, especially with the sales experience I earned from being in pharmaceutical sales," she said. Combs said she was very impressed by the staff at Vanguard and is enthusiastic about promoting the company's services. "I want to make sure Vanguard is the first choice for Miami Valley physicians," she commented.

Vanguard President and CEO Joe Brywczynski stated, "We are very excited about adding someone of Elizabeth's caliber to the Vanguard team. Her depth of sales knowledge in the marketplace will be a definite asset to the company. We look forward to working with Elizabeth and capitalizing on the many relationships she has developed with physicians and their office staffs in the market."

Combs lives in West Chester with her husband Mike and two sons, Spencer and Carter. Combs coaches her boys in various sports and also volunteers at her sons' school and the family church.
