Owner's style nothing short of 'Eclectique'

During her three years as a travel nurse, Kirsten Kulkarni changed hospitals about every three months. Each stop in a new city provided inspiration for Eclectique Home Decor, a furniture home accessories boutique she opened late last year in Fairfield Twp.
The South Lebanon resident said she has always wanted to open a store like Eclectique.
"When I moved here, I wanted to do something new," she said. "I still do nursing but this keeps me really busy."
Located just west of the Bypass Ohio 4 and Tylersville Road intersection, the 4,000-square-foot storefront offers a selection of beds, bookcases, coffee tables, couches, lamps, picture frames, throw pillows, vases — seemingly every conceivable object one might need to decorate a home.
Kulkarni said she keeps the store's selection varied, ordering new items every few months.
"We have new vintage and consignment pieces and we have everything from modern and retro to vintage to very traditional pieces," she said.
Part of her work involves finding and rehabbing vintage furniture to make it more appealing to the modern market
Prices range anywhere from $50 to $1,000 or more, depending on the item.
Kulkarni said she enjoys being able to let out her creativity, especially when she visits a customer's home to look at a room and work with them to determine what works best for that space.
"That's something I like to do because I play around with my house all the time, but I only have so many rooms," she said.
Loveland resident Heather Smith said she was new to the area and glad to find Eclectique and its "chic, unique and affordable" selection.
Attending an antique fair together, Smith was impressed with Kulkarni's creative ideas for repurposing items.
"She has a really great eye for quality and the ability to find diamonds in the rough," Smith said.
