The Cool Jazz 'n' Hotcakes Breakfast at Lakota East High School is back. Warm 98's Dean Miuccio will emcee the event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 17, at the high school, 6840 Lakota Lane. Enjoy raffles and shopping at the Main Street Marketplace while music is provided by the Lakota East, Freshman and Junior High Jazz bands. There also will be an open jam session at 11:30 a.m. for all aspiring musicians to join the students. All proceeds benefit the East band program and the Jeff Durham Scholarship Fund.
Space Day event promises to be
out of this world
Cincinnati iSPACE presents Space Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Scarlet Oaks Career Development Campus, 3254 E. Kemper Road. The free event will allow children of all ages to experience hands-on and interactive booths with flight simulators, a robot, model rockets and more. Exhibitors include the Civil Air Patrol, the 123rd Air Control Squadron and Cincinnati Observatory Center.

The Beach Waterpark
The Beach Waterpark opens for the summer from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends before Memorial Day. For those without a season pass, admission is $27.99, $20.50 military, $15.50 after 4 p.m., $10.50 seniors and children. Season pass holders can bring a friend free on opening weekend and enjoy a free breakfast with Shivers and Miles from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Roll out the barrel for Beer Barons Weekend
at Muhlhauser Barn
The Over-the-Rhine Foundation will host a Beer Barons Weekend from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, May 16, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 17, and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at the Muhlhauser Barn, 8558 Beckett Road. The free event will focus on Cincinnati's brewing history and West Chester Twp.'s connection to that history, which includes the summer homes and farms of the area's greatest barons. The festival will showcase a horse drawn beer delivery carriage, beer stein exhibit and sale, local artist signing commemorative prints, music and food. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Over-the-Rhine Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the Cincinnati area.
Fairfield Footlighters present frolicking forties follies
The Fairfield Footlighters present "Swingtime Canteen" at 8 p.m. today through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15-18, at the Fairfield Community Arts Center, 411 Wessel Drive. The show takes a nostalgic look through the eyes of a once-famous Hollywood actress, the events and music that defined the time surrounding World War II and the subsequent "war effort." Tickets are $12, $10 seniors and students.
