Christmas trees don’t grow overnight, but they can sprout in new places.

One of those places is Green Acres Landscaping and Nursery Inc. at 5700 Kyles Station Road in Liberty Twp. For the first time in its 15 years, Green Acres is offering pre-cut Christmas trees.

“We discussed ways to grow our business, so we partnered with a nice vendor to offer hundreds of trees,” said Mike Kelly, the Garden Center Manager at Green Acres, where the Canaan Fir trees will start to sell today.

The business will start with an inventory of 115 trees, “but we’ll always be getting more,” Kelly said.

In addition to the trees, Green Acres will have an assortment of fresh wreaths and evergreen roping. Green Acres will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m..,Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Joining new places like Green Acres are the old standbys like Nieman Nursery & Landscaping at 3881 Cincinnati-Brookville Road in Ross Twp. Nieman’s offers pre-cut trees, or customers can choose and cut their own trees.

“A lot of people like the Frasier fir trees because the needles are soft and they have more of a smell,” said Sally Nieman, one of the owners of the business. The trees that customers cut for themselves are scotch pines.

“They cost $5 a foot, so you can get a nice tree for $30,” she said.

Other tree farms in Butler County include Berns Garden Center, 825 Greentree Road, Middletown; Barn n Bunk at 3677 Wayne-Madison Road, Trenton; the John T. Nieman nursery at 3215 New London Road, Hamilton; and the Rash Christmas Tree Farm at 7321 LeSourdsville-West Chester Road in West Chester Twp.

Warren County farms include: Big Tree Plantation at 2544 S. Waynesville Road, Morrow; Berninger Trees and Wreaths at 1220 Stubbs Mill Road, Lebanon; and Caesar’s Creek Nursery at 4336 E. Ohio 73, Waynesville.
