Supplement added to water helps dogs get their greens

Some local folks are in the news when it comes to pet products.

I was alerted to a product called Dog-Wa, made by former Miami Valley folks who now live in Las Vegas.

It’s a liquid supplement you add to your pet’s drinking water to give him greens he can digest.

Matt Israel and his mother, Jane, founded Hitchin Spot, Dogs Bestest Friend, after wondering why dogs eat grass and have digestive problems.

They say Dog-Wa gives dogs — and cats — the nutritional and digestive benefits of fresh leafy greens in a form they can digest. It helps to address issues like gas, bloating and bad breath.

The product is made from cold pressed pesticide-free herbs.

It even meets FDA standards for pharmaceutical products made for human consumption.

Special shows bonds people, pets have

A while back, a woman from Cincinnati, Helen Johnson, the director of events for Queen City Greyhounds, was filmed locally for a special television program.

That TV special, “Tales for the Pet Lover’s Heart,” will air on WDTN NBC-2 on Dec. 25 at 2 p.m.

The program highlights the bond people share with their pets and will feature six individuals with very strong animal bonds as well as consumer-submitted stories.

As part of a campaign, sponsored by Nestlé Purina and Kroger, the companies will donate more than $150,000 to animal welfare organizations this year. Locally, donations of $2,500 each will be given to the Warren County Humane Society in Hamilton and the Animal Friends Humane Society in Lebanon.

Pet lovers are invited to share their stories at www.TalesForThePetLoversHeart.com. For each story shared, Purina and Kroger will make an additional donation to animal welfare organizations and all submissions will be considered for inclusion in next year’s special.
