US dollar falls in Europe

The U.S. dollar fell Tuesday against most other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices rose.

The euro traded at $1.5916, up from $1.5893 late Monday in New York.

Other dollar rates compared with late rates Monday included: 106.32 Japanese yen, down from 106.75; 1.0165 Swiss francs, down from 1.0212, and 1.0018 Canadian dollars, up from 1.0017.

The British pound was quoted at $2.0043, up from $1.9984.

Gold traded in London at $973 per troy ounce, up from $960.50 Monday.
