HAMILTON — An afternoon and evening immersed in Chinese culture and tradition is scheduled Tuesday, April 7, at the Miami Hamilton Campus.
Guests from China will showcase Chinese martial arts (Gongfu), handicrafts and traditional musical instruments during "A Taste of China."
The afternoon program, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. in Schwarm Hall, includes informal performances of Gongfu and interactive demonstrations of Chinese handicrafts — paper cutting and Chinese knotting.
Light refreshments will be served.
The Taste of China evening program is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in the Wilks Conference Center.
The evening will begin with a brief lecture and explanation of the Chinese arts, followed by a musical performance showcasing the Chinese instruments, Guzheng and Erhu. Guzheng is an ancient Chinese stringed instrument, and Erhu is a Chinese two-stringed bowed instrument, known as a "Chinese violin."
Authentic cuisine will be served.
The programs are free and open to the public.
