Teacher gets 3 years in prison for having sex with student

HAMILTON — David "Jamie" Wagner, a former Madison High School softball coach and teacher, was sentence today, Aug. 28, to three years in prison for having sex with a 17-year-old student that he coached.
Wagner pleaded guilty in July to one count of sexual battery, a third degree felony. The charge carried a maximum prison sentence of five years and a $10,000 fine.
Butler County Common Pleas Judge Keith Spaeth also imposed a fine of $2,500 and ordered Wagner to pay resititution to the victim's family for medical expenses. Wagner has also been classified as a Tier III sexual offender, which will require him to register with the Butler County Sheriff's Office every 90 days for the rest of his life.
Wagner was led from the courtroom in handcuffs, with his wife and parents looking on in tears.
"Love you son," his father shouted.
The victim and her parents were also present during the emotional hearing.
The victim's father told Wagner, "You are every parent's worst nightmare."
