HAMILTON — Hamilton police are investigating the death of an apparent homeless man today, July 3, but Butler County Coroner Dr. Richard Burkhardt said there's no reason to suspect foul play yet.

Police have yet to identify the man who's body was found outside of Wright's Towing on Fairgrove Avenue about 12:15 p.m.

Burkhardt estimated the body had been there for weeks. An official cause of death wouldn't be known until the autopsy, which will likely be performed Monday, July 7.

"We would have done it sooner if there's some suspicion of foul play, but there's not," he said.

J.J. Spahni of Wright's Towing found the body. He said while moving some cars on the impound lot he smelled an odor and found the body just off the property near the lot's fence.

Spahni said an umbrella and radio were near the body.

"It looked like he had been camping or something back there," he said.

The HPD's Investigations Section responded to a call reporting the body. The case is still under investigation.
