Oxford Idol is set to return to Hall Auditorium for the second year in a row at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27. Chris Adryan is the producer for this Kramer Elementary parent group fundraiser.

"Ringmaster would be a better name for my job," Adryan said. "It's more like a circus."

The money raised from the show is used for various educational field trips for the students at Kramer Elementary to places like COSI and the Cincinnati Art Museum.

"Many of the kids would normally never have the chance to go on trips like these," Adryan said. "It's a great opportunity."

Many of the popular acts from last year will be returning.

"The Cheezies, The Remnants and the Golden Tappers will all be back again this year," Adryan said. "Also, the Kramer Elementary kindergarten, first grade and teachers will be back."

There also will be new performers in the show. Auditions were held Sunday at the Oxford Community Arts Center.

"I have been contacted by a lot of new groups," Adryan said. "There was a lot more interest in auditions this year."

This year, Adryan and assistant Rob Abowitz have been finding new ways to market the show.

"We have sent notices out to the Talawanda schools through Friday folders, put up table tents, and I talked about it at city council," Abowitz said. "It was such a great success last year. We are hoping word of mouth is one of our greatest marketers."

Adryan believes all age groups enjoy the show because of diverse types of entertainment.

"We thought it would work well because it is a college town and all different age groups enjoy it" Adryan said. "Its fun because every age group is covered from first grade to middle school or high school to 70-year-old tap dancers."

Though the name sounds like that of the Fox show "American Idol," Abowitz says the two are not alike.

"There are no winners," Abowitz said. "Its not really like 'American Idol,' we just borrowed the name."

Oxford Idol tickets are on sale at the Kramer office and will be available at the door.
