A 9-month-old boy was flown by medical helicopter to Dayton Children's Hospital Thursday evening after falling into a chair at his Monroe home, police said.

Police were originally called by the infant's father, who reported his son had been bitten by the family's dog, which was in the room when the accident was discovered, said Monroe police Sgt. Tom Cobaugh.

However, when police arrived in the 500 block of Austin Smith Road, they found the boy's laceration to his forehead was not consistent with a dog bite, and concluded the child likely stumbled into the chair, Cobaugh said.

The child, who was conscious when police arrived, was flown to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, Cobaugh said.

No charges will be filed in the incident, he said.
