CINCINNATI — Residents will be getting more cheese with their wine at Kroger.

Murray's Cheese, a purveyor of fine cheeses, opened its first location outside of New York at the new Fresh Fare by Kroger store in Kenwood Towne Place.

Two other locations are planned to open within Kroger stores the coming weeks in Liberty Twp. and Hyde Park.

The Murray's Cheese Department carries more than 500 items, including the cheeses, crackers, dried fruits and olives, similar to the original Greenwich Village store in Manhattan. It will be staffed by Kroger employees who have received "rigorous" cheese service training, officials said in a news release.

The Kenwood Fresh Fare by Kroger also will feature a wine shop, a bakery, a full-service sushi bar and "The Bistro," a seating area where customers can enjoy chef-prepared meals on site or off premise.

In previous news releases, Kroger officials indicated the Hyde Park and Liberty Twp. locations would only include Murray's Cheese kiosks.

Kroger and Murray's Cheese agreed to partner in a specialty cheese program in August 2007.
