2012 Olympics: Fashion winners and losers

 

 
  • OK, so maybe we don't have a gold medal grill like US Olympic swimming champ Ryan Lochte but we'll put our sense of what's fashionable at the 2012 Games up against anyone's -- any day, any time. That said, we're taking another look at what's hip among athletes and fans in London. AP
  • Again, we stress that we'll take on all comers. Ahem.
  • Men's high jump silver medalist Erik Kynard of the US may not be as flashy as Lochte when it comes to footwear, but we'd move him to the top of the medal stand based on these all-American stockings.
  • Hungary handball player Gergo Ivancsik's shoes and socks aren't really the point here, are they? AP

  • We like this. We really like this. There's a lot of wacky headgear happening in these Games -- some of it required in certain events -- but here's proof that less is more. US runner Alysia Johnson Montano's floral accessory is the perfect complement to an already stylish form. AP

  • Yeah, we're not sure what's up with those guys in Photo #5 either, kid. YOUR earmuffs strike us as kind of nouveau-retro, though, and we give them props. AP
  • Morocco's Sanaa Atabrour, a women's taekwondo competitor, strikes an impressive balance between progress in sport and religious tradition in her animal-print head covering. AP

  • Now this little British fan may not match perfectly but sometimes the fact is, Cute Trumps All. AP
  • Don't you wish your shoes fit this well? These may not be Choos or Manolos but they're custom-tailored and you can bet they aren't just off the rack. AP
  • For Queen and country, this swimming fan is going the distance in her own not-too-subtle way. AP
  • Well, the Ukrainian women's rowing squad apparently reworked that pattern template from Team Russia for its own jackets. (And maybe we should get our eyes checked. Hmmm...) AP
