It all came down to the feet of two kickers.
After trailing 14-10 at halftime, the Toledo Rockets took over on the backs of David Fluellen and Kareem Hunt. Shortly after Fluellen exited the game early in the fourth with a knee injury, the Rockets led 31-21 and seemed in full control of their destiny. Then Navy fired back, with another rushing touchdown by quarterback Keenan Reynolds
The Midshipmen's kicker Nick Sloan nailed a 40-yard field goal as time expired to send the game into overtime.
The two teams traded scores in the first overtime, each punching the ball in on one-yard runs. Navy got the ball to start the second overtime, and scored immediately, except for one little problem. Sloan shanked the extra point, putting Navy up 44-38 with Toledo taking over.
Terrance Owens hooked up with Bernard Reedy on a 20-yard score, and Jeremiah Detmer's golden foot sailed the extra point through to give the Rockets the thrilling 45-44 victory.
Recap coming later.
