Christian Ponder left Thursday night's game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Washington Redskins with an apparent arm injury. He is out for the game, Alex Flanagan reported on the NFL Network telecast.
Ponder took off on a scramble for the left corner of the end zone, and took hard hit on the shoulder from a defender as he dove for the pylon. He fumbled to ball on the 1-yard line due to the hit.
Ponder was immediately replaced by Matt Cassel, who handed the ball off to Adrian Peterson for a touchdown that gave the Vikings a 28-27 lead. Replays showed Ponder smiling on the sidelines with training staff shortly after leaving. However, shortly after putting his helmet back on he was walked back into the locker room by trainers.
The Redskins held a 24-14 lead at halftime, but the Vikings have come back in the third quarter to take a 1-point lead. Ponder played well, going 17-for-21 passing for 174 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
