Troy’s Café in West Chester has only been open for a few weeks but visitors to the restaurant may feel as if they’ve eaten the food before.
“After a few years as a local caterer I decided to open the café focusing on twelve basic core foods that I put my own spin on,” said owner Troy Meyers.
Meyers calls his menu a blend of Rustic American foods and said everything he uses is made fresh daily. The menu is designed to cater to those who want quick food that’s healthy.
“My meat is ground fresh every day, my seafood is delivered daily and all of our breads are served fresh,” he said.
The same menu is served throughout the day at Troy’s and features salads, soups, sandwiches and entrees which are called Comfort Foods. While the portions are a healthy size, diners will enjoy the lower price of most menu items.
“I wanted to keep the cost down so people can eat here two or three times a week,” Meyers said.
Troy’s Café Salad is the best example of the style of his menu, featuring artichokes, olives roasted red peppers, feta and home made balsamic dressing. Soups include Tomato Bisque which is a blend of vine ripe tomatoes and cream that’s topped with croutons and Romano cheese.
The sandwiches are a bit unusual and while they may not appeal to a more traditional palate, adventuresome diners will enjoy the Uovo which is fried egg, Parma ham, Romano cheese, baby spinach and aioli tomato that is served with café chips that are fried with house seasonings. The two burgers on the menu are the Troy’s which is made with aged cheddar and bacon, and the Greek Burger which is topped with olive tapenade and feta cheese. Comfort Food choices are different than most typical restaurant entrees, with items like the Cashew Salmon Grilia that is served with jasmine rice and napa slaw. The Sun-dried Tomato Meatballs are a customer favorite from the Comfort Food menu, and the Smoked Mozz and Chicken Pasta is smoked mozzarella cheese in a cream sauce with wild mushrooms tossed in farfalle pasta. There are also a variety of desserts to choose from including cheese cake and creme brulee.
Troy’s Café offers free WiFi, a coffee bar and a lounge area for those looking to catch up on paperwork. Meyers will also custom cater a menu for those who are looking to enjoy his food offsite. All foods on the café menu are available for carry out, and for those looking to dine in, the urban style café seats up to 49. While alcohol is not served at Troy’s, Pepsi products and a wide variety of teas, waters and coffee are available. There are daily soup, salad, sandwich and Comfort Food specials, as well as a kids menu with traditional choices like grilled cheese.
