Tony-award winning play ‘Billy Elliot’ at the Aronoff

CINCINNATI — A little boy shakes off the prejudices of a community and learns to love dance in the uplifting musical “Billy Elliot,” being performed at the Aronoff Center starting this week.

Based on the international smash-hit film and featuring music by Elton John, “Billy Elliot the Musical” has earned critical acclaim on Broadway, including 10 Tony Awards.

“Billy Elliot the Musical” is the joyous celebration of one boy’s journey to make his dreams come true. Set in a small town, the story follows Billy as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, discovering a surprising talent that inspires his family and his whole community and changes his life forever.

“Billy Elliot the Musical” is part of the Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Cincinnati 11/12 Season and is presented by NETworks Presentations LLC.

The production has been awarded 81 national and international awards including 10 Tony Awards, Best Musical by the New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk, Drama League and Outer Critics Circle.

“Billy Elliot the Musical” will play The Aronoff Center through Jan. 29. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Tuesdays to Fridays; 2 and 8 p.m. on Saturdays; and 1 and 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Tickets run from $27.50 to $87.50 and may be purchased, online at BroadwayAcrossAmerica.com or ticketmaster.com, in person at the Broadway in Cincinnati Box Office downtown in the Mercantile Center at 120 E. Fourth St. and the Aronoff Center Box Office or by phone at (800) 982-2787.
