Stephen Williams, 300 Talawanda, was reportedly walking with his girlfriend past a North Poplar Street apartment when they were harassed by several male residents. Williams told police he went up the stairs to confront the males, but they retreated inside of the apartment.
He admitted to banging on a glass window and said he unintentionally broke the window in the process.
Police detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Williams' breath and he admitted to drinking at Brodie's Bar shortly before the incident. Williams' girlfriend told police that they had been with two other males as they walked near the apartment, but officers were unable to locate them.
Officers believe that one of the friends Williams was with might have run on top of a vehicle parked in front of the apartment, which had three small dents and footprints on the body. Williams was transported to McCullough-Hyde for treatment of his wounds.
Centerville man assaulted for dancing
A 23-year-old Centerville man was allegedly assaulted May 10 while dancing at an Uptown bar.
Police responded to reports of a male bleeding at the establishment, arriving to find the male subject seated outside of CJ's Bar with blood running from his mouth. Preliminary investigation showed the man sustained a cut on his upper right lip and a broken front tooth.
The victim told police he had been trying to dance with a female subject inside the bar when an unknown male punched him in the mouth. He was not sure, but speculated that the female was possibly with the assailant.
Police did not charge anyone in the incident, as they were not able to locate the alleged aggressor. The 23-year-old was transported to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital for treatment of his wounds.
Intoxicated man unsure of surroundings, name
Police arrested an intoxicated student at McCullough-Hyde when he was unable to tell them what town he was in or where he lived.
Michael Williams, 20, of 137 Ashford Drive, Bridgeport, W.V., sat in the hospital's ER lobby on May 10, without any clear idea of where he was. Police spoke with a security guard in the lobby, who said Williams had dropped a cell phone, some keys and the power cord to a gaming console on the ground prior to their arrival.
Officers spoke with Williams, but were unable to get a clear answer to who he was and why he was at the hospital. Police said they eventually obtained a Miami University ID unveiling his age and name, though officers had to remove his driver's license from his wallet for him.
When police asked him if he knew where he was, Williams allegedly answered with slurred, incomprehensible words. Police charged Williams with underage intoxication and Disorderly Conduct Public Intoxication before walking him to his sister's East Vine Street residence.
Three consecutive nights of criminal trespass on Poplar
A South Poplar Street resident reported witnessing a male subject possibly peering into the windows of her residence on May 7.
The 22-year-old Miami University student told police she saw the unknown male standing near the trees in her backyard, potentially watching activity inside of the home. She described the male as older than college-aged, with dark hair, sporting a grey and green shirt and denim jeans.
After noticing the man standing outside of the residence and screaming, the witness said the subject fled on foot in an unknown direction. Officers attempted to locate the subject in the surrounding area, but were unable to locate anyone matching the victim's description.
The female told police the incident marked the third night in a row that a male subject had been seen in one of the nearby yards.
