Super Station: Band says it's all about chemistry

People who go to see Super Station play may get the funny feeling they've seen some of the band members somewhere around here before.
That funny feeling would be correct. Singer/guitarist Bob Nau also performs lead vocal duties for the Middletown-based band Edge of Life. Jason Wilmot, who plays guitar for Super Station, does the same for the band Sutra. Rounding out the band are Tony Gasper on bass and Jeff Taylor on drums.

Get latest headlines via RSS feedsHowever, being in two bands at once isn't such a drag on Super Station, which is primarily a covers band, with a few originals in the mix.
Nau and Wilmot were already with Super Station before they joined those other bands, so these musicians have a long-standing familiarity with each other — and that's what makes Super Station work, they said.
"It's chemistry and spontaneity," said Nau.
"People say we're tight, and that goes back to that chemistry," said Wilmot.
Taylor added, "We went a month or two without practicing, and it still came together."
Super Station is known mainly locally, with Middletown's Barb's Pub attracting some of their best audiences. They play there at 9 p.m. today. However, the band has also made its mark on Cincinnati rock fans. They would have won a recent Battle of the Bands at Bogart's had they not run too long, Gasper said.
The band will be recording a demo CD to be released later this year, and the group hopes to expand their audience with it. For the moment however, their primary objective is to put their spin on the classics.
"We always say don't make it sound just like the record make it sound like Super Station," Nau said.
