The joys of unpacking the winter clothes
I am not a fan of winter. I don’t hate it, but I don’t look forward to it. The slush, the heavy gray skies, the Christmas shopping traffic, the wind chill, the salty mess on my car, the perils of driving home from my second-shift job at 2 a.m. when there’s no guarantee my route has been touched by a plow…these are all the things that come to mind when I think of winter’s impending arrival, and they leave me wanting to hibernate through it all and wake up sometime in May.
But there is always one part I like: lugging out the big Rubbermaid bins labeled “seasonal clothes” and exchanging my tank tops and linen shorts for fleece sweatshirts and corduroys.
It’s like an early Christmas. Every year I pull stuff out of storage that I had completely forgotten I even owned. Some items I love and can’t wait to wear again soon, while others go straight into the Goodwill pile because I do not see myself wearing them this season or ever again.
When I’m done with the swapping, then comes the shopping. I evaluate the “keepers” and see if there’s anything obviously missing. Do I have enough long-sleeved tees to last between laundry days? Does that fleece even still fit? Have those boots seen better days? Could I use another pair of slipper socks?
(The answer to that last one is always yes. Maybe it’s just because my feet are often the first part of my body to get cold, but I put slipper socks on the list of things I can’t have enough of.)
Then it’s off to my favorite discount stores like Plato’s Closet, Gabriel Brothers, Stein Mart and Burlington Coat Factory to round out my options without bottoming out the credit card before Christmas shopping has even started. I keep an eye out for sales at other retailers, too - Old Navy had 50% off outerwear this past week, allowing me to pick up a flannel-lined lightweight jacket for those days when a hoodie won’t cut it but a winter coat (mine is a wool peacoat) is overkill.
What clothes or outfits have you rediscovered, either this year or in the past?

Hi, I’m writing comments of a write-up upon writing comments. Just how interesting you think is always that? We perspective writing comments for a continuation from the writing themselves. It could sometimes bring or perhaps argue your publish, or maybe response a question. You probably know how within a discussion board twine may contain one hundred dollars regarding discussions which will ultimately ends up being a dialogue in between many individuals? That will what I view the thoughts portions as, a consistent discussion! Thanks
