Jessica Simpson is fat, so they say

A few weeks ago I wrote a posting asking why we ladies can’t appreciate our good looks when we have them.

It doesn’t take a sociologist, an expensive study or a vocal feminist to tell you, it’s things like this.

The celebrity gossip shows, the Internet and regular old reputable newspapers are blowing up about how Jessica Simpson is blowing up.

They’ve used the ‘F’ word. Jessica is ‘fat.’

Well, here we go again. A stunning celebrity puts on a little weight and she’s FAT. I imagine she has a lot more positive reinforcement than your average teen-age girl, young woman or aging female. Many handlers, managers, assistants, Tony Romo, tell her she’s gorgeous. But so many other places don’t note the good stuff, they notice the ‘fat.’ So what are the rest of us to do?

So I imagine she feels fat. I imagine she too will look back on 2009 and realize she was great. I really hope she sees it now.

Many people will argue that she’s in the public eye and therefore a target. Exactly, she’s a target. If someone is in the public eye we have a ridiculous need to hit a target. Couldn’t she just be in the public eye and be discussed without it being cruel?

Or ridiculous. Take EW.com. The website of Entertainment Weekly magazine is using Jessica’s weight gain as their inaugural (their word) edition of their ShePop segment.

When I thought they named it ‘pop’ because she had gotten large, I was irritated.

When I saw their actual explanation, I was without words. The site says ShePop is a place “in which we’ll offer up a thinking woman’s perspective on stuff that won’t otherwise be shoved into a girly corner.”

True. Because no one puts Jessica Simpson’s burgeoning butt in the girly corner.

I am outraged that a “thinking woman’s” segment covers a weight issue (I mean non-issue) of a celebrity. What an insult to thinking women. We’re inundated with this crapola everywhere. ShePop should do a story instead on how Jessica Simpson manages her money and investments. Now THAT would be a thinking story.

Stephanie: Jessica Simpson managing her own money and investments?! That CRACKED me up when I read that! True, she shouldn’t be made target because she gained a few pounds and unfortunately chose an outfit that displays it, but I do not believe I could put ‘Jessica Simpson’ and ‘thinking’ in the same sentense with a positive connotation!

What is the issue here? Why is it news-worthy wether or not Jessica Simpson - or anyone else for that matter - is fat? What a waste of space! Tell me - has it been a slow news day??

You seen the pictures? She practically doubled in size! Her weight is fair game because she’s selling herself as a sex symbol. If she doesn’t like it she should lose weight or get a real job like the rest of us. Then nobody will care how fat she is.

She had to wear two belts! Two!

It’s fair game. She’s not famous for her singing or acting ability.

Face it, she’s fat! She would never have gotten as far as she has being the blimp that she is now. But I believe that she’s fat on purpose. She’s trying to get a Jenny Graig or Slimfast endorsement like Kirstie and Valerie. Bet Nick’s glad she dumped him now. His chick is georgeous and slender! Va va voom

Has anyone asked if she might be on some type of medicatation that is causing the weight-gain?

Notice how the people that have commented about her being “fat” have all been men? It’s no wonder we have girls turning to anorexia and whatnot. No one is perfect, at least Jessica looks healthy!

Her size 8 is fat. She doesn’t look great - she looks overweight. Anyone/everyone posting otherwise are probably fat chicks!

A little weight…she gained 20-30 pounds. She looks really big. When anyone gains that much weight, people are going to notice. And hate to break it to you ladies, she did “look” fat. If she had gained a few pounds, it is a non-story, but given the fact that she has sold us her good looks in the past makes this a story.

Fat? I looked at the photos. She’s beautiful. Finally, a starlet with an actual womanly figure and not the flat butt, flat chest of a 10 year old. Do men want flat chested, rail thin women to fulfill some pedophile fantasy? We need more real women. Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe are fat by today’s standards and they were the hottest girls in Hollywood in their day.

I am man and me like her! Duurr. Seriously ppl…she is still gorgeous. Real women have curves. I would not consider her fat. Women need a little cushion for the push. Still an idiot, still hot. And that outfit is atrocious!!! I want to SEE her n low riders - oh yea!

Cait, curves, good. Rolls, bad. Marilyn and Rita would still be hot in this day, Jessica in those pictures WAY beyond what those ladies were. Again, breasts are good, if they come with added rolls, not good. Jessica has sold herself through her sexy look…daisy dukes, etc…so when the reverse happens, she has to realize she will be made fun.

Lets see. She can’t sing or act. She has the hots for a Dallas Quarterback to stay in the limelight. As for endorsing Jenny Craig, she be better off doing a Chicken of the Sea diet endorsement first.

I think she looks better with the added weight. The hour glass figure is more attractive than her previous scrawny half-starved look. I’m a size 6 and I wish I could fill out like that instead of being mistaken for a little girl even though I’m 32 years old!

I’d still drink her bath water.
