Three Questions for Flyers Fans
Here are three questions for Dayton Flyers fans:
1 — With the regular season ending Saturday night against Saint Louis at UD Arena , which of the seven seniors — Marcus Johnson, Kurt Huelsman, London Warren, Rob Lowery, Mickey Perry, Dan Fox or Luke Hendrick — will you miss most?
2 — Would it be a smart move — basketball-wise, financially — for junior Chris Wright to jump to the NBA?
3 — With eight freshmen and four sophomores, Saint Louis may have the youngest team in Division I basketball. In the preseason, the Billikens were picked to finish 12th of 14 teams in the league by the A-10 media. They currently are 19-10 and 10-5 in the conference and already have beaten the Flyers once.
So is Rick Majerus — who has a career coaching record of 475-186 with Marquette, Ball State, Utah and now Saint Louis — the best coach in the A-10?

wont miss any of the underachievers and glad to see them all gone.2chris wright is not nba material so if he knows for sure he will be drafted i say yes if not then no.majerous is a great coach maybe the best in a-10. dayton should try to get a proven winning coach when they have the chance instead of guessing on a unproven with no experience and getting burned.gregory does not deserve to stand on the same court as majerous.

Hmmm…First 2 questions are OK, last question is nonsensical. Answers: (1) M. Johnson. (2) Chris Wright is not NBA material. (3) SLU didn’t win the A-10 and won’t be going to NCAA tourney. Chris Mack is the best coach in the A-10 this season, all things considered. Check the standings, Tom.

Huelsman: this teams loses but never gets blown out because of defense and he is a big part of that; 2. Yes; 3 he is one of the best if not the best.

KH would have had a hard time starting for alot of D II programs. CW needs to learn how to play defense and develop a outside shot & matbe he can play in europe. RM is one of the best in the A10, BG is absolutely the worst.

London Warren, great defensive asset, plays hard & great attitude. CW will be better off & the Flyers will be better off if Chris come back. Majerus shoud be A-10 Coach of the Year, great defensive coach.

1)Marcus Johnson.2) No,not even remotely close this year. 3.)No, the unbalanced schedule favored them as they got X,Temple,Dayton,RI,and Richmond all at home.

1) Marcus Johnson. Definitely won’t miss Huelsman—his starting every game is exhibit 1 agst BG as coach; 2) CW should stay and hopefully we can get him a new coach for his senior year—can always dream; 3) Yes, by far, Majerus is the best coach. Wish UD could get him

1) So what about next year, cause this year is shot. 2) Should Brian Gregory look for a better job or better players? 3) What about playing Wright State for 1 assured win?

KH & LW (I think they got the most out of the talent that they possess). 2. I don’t see CW as an NBA-ready player. I think he needs another year in college or in Europe before going to the big time. Still inconsistent with a jump-shot from any range and limited ball-handling capabilities. Like his effort and maturity. Like to see him get his degree. 3. Recruiting—BG; Gametime—RM

I hate to pick one over another, but Marcus has had 4 very good years. The CW nba take at times is very harsh and uncalled for,how you you like to even have your name. as a possiblity

London was a point guard who couldn’t shoot but used determination to be a great defensive player.I do not believe that Chris Wright would be drafted. Coaching is 90% players, so I can’t compare. Under your premise, if Gregory does well next year(when Flyers are young), then he will be the best coach.

1) LW, Marcus and Lowery have choked all year. 2) CW a pro player. What have you people been watching. This is the Atlantic 10 and he let his team fall to 6th place. Name me one close game where he took over and won the game. CW has moved from the #44 prospect to #95. Go check the daft ratings. He played himself out of an opportunity for the NBA after this year. He better re-group and have a great senior year or his NBA hopes are over. 3) BG is a good coach and one of the best in the A 10. The players never stepped up when they needed this year. The players played below their ability this year

Yeah, but right now, CW is not projected to go first or second round in the 2010 draft. Possibly 10th in the 2nd round of the 2011 draft. He’s made progress in his control, shooting, and shot choices this year… and I’m sure he’s not going to fall off the radar… he’ll only get better. Tough call, though… it would be impossible to pass up the $$, even for sitting the bench.

The two who were better than what’s listed and didn’t get enough minutes, thanks to our dummy coach: Marcus and Mickey, will be missed most. If these 2 got the appropriate min. BG would be recognized as smart. But…As for C Wright; how many of you smarties would sit on the bench in th NBA for 5 million dollars over 3 years? If they say he’s ready, you go and learn, collect, and possibly become a star. Yes you go if they say you’re a 1st round pick, regardless.

Arch… You sly… cunning…perceptive sports writer… You see, you report, you question and then you get the Flyer faithfull to write what you really wanted to say… Very ingenious as usual… The Flyers have given me great joy and ah-ja=dah over the years and I love the passion everyone has for Dayton around the US,keep the rooting I will!

I will not miss Huels offensive futility but his hard work was a nice example. Ask Derek Brown if he is happy he left Xavier early for the NBA. His 10 minutes a game are worth it. Wright doesn’t have the game Brown does so expect D-League at best.

1) Marcus - carries himself with a great sense of humility, maturity. 2) Chris should finish school, and experience at least one year with a decent point guard, learn to dribble better, and hopefully have a better coach next year (afer some soul searching). 3) Rick M. is smart and has done a lot with a little. (BG on the other hand, has done a little with a lot, and actually gone in reverse). Is there an award for the Dunce Coach of The Year?

Marcus Johnson 2. Chris Wright should go to the NBA now. This year’s NBA draft is weak. 3. Gregory best coach still. Dayton has been competitive in all games this season. Making the NCAA tournament is extremely difficult for non-BCS schools.

1- All of them..they gave UD a ton of wins and an NCAA win..first in a long time. 2- Chris can do what he feels is best…with uncertain 2011 for draft, it may be best to go…weak class this year. 3-Dunphy..not close!

No way is Wright an NBA player. He is athletic - not a basketball player. I am definitely a flyer fan but this year has been a huge disappointment.

Huelsman. The senior I will miss least, without a doubt, is Lowery. He’ll soon be a fellow alum so I respect him, but he needs to learn some humility. Rob, you aren’t a great dribbler, you are not our first shooting option, and every fast break doesn’t need to be an alley oop. No way is he ready. Who cares?

1 - Marcus; 2 - No. I think his skills are still too raw, and he’d get stuck in the developmental league, and might have problems working his way up and out to have a consistent pro career; 3 - One of the top, but not ready to annoint him no. 1
