Group lists 5 most unhealthy fast-food meals for kids

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine today, Aug. 31, released what it calls the The Five Most Unhealthful Fast-Food Kids Meals of 2010, firing a PR broadside at huge fast-food chains such as McDonald’s (which had the “worst” kids meal), Wendy’s, Burger King, KFC and A&W.

Some of the committee’s detractors call the PCRM the “food police,” and this organization does like its lists of “worsts,” with news releases just this year entitled “Dietitians Rank Five Worst School Lunches” and “Doctors List Best and Worst Cookbooks of Decade.”

Still, with the most calories, fat, and saturated fat of any meal analyzed, the McDonald’s “Mighty Kids Meal” certainly is, well, mighty. And childhood obesity is a problem that can’t be ignored.

Whatever happened to “Moderation in all things”?

It is not even just the fast food; those super-size soft drinks contain 300 calories or more in each cup. That is bad enough for the adults, let alone the kids. I’m starting to agree with the people who want to tax sugary sodas.

Take a look around you. We monitor the food our kids get in school and we bash the resturants that have kids meals but do you encourage your kids to play outside. We buy video games and take gym out of the schools and wonder why our kids are fat.

Let a kid have a freakin’ treat every once in awhile. It’s the parents who rely on it for daily sustenance that are causing the obesity problems. TOO MUCH INTERVENTION BY OUTSIDE GROUPS HERE!

Then there is: For those of you who watch what you eat, here’s the final word on nutrition and health. It’s a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Anyone who doesn’t know fast food is unhealthy is an idiot or has lived in a cave for 30 years. Knowing which is “worst” is like knowing which chemical under he sink will kill your kid fastest.

People are more concern about health now then we every were. There is nothing wrong with going to McDonald’s, but there is something wrong with eating there every single day. I take my daughter to McDonald’s once or twice a month for breakfest as a nice treat, same with Wendy’s (for lunch). Difference is, she does not sit around watching TV or playing vidoe games, and no, a wii is not what I consider to be exercise. She goes outside and plays with her friends, ride bikes, jump rope, swim, walk, run, and loads of other stuff. It is not all about what you eat. Some people who never eat fast food are overweight because they do not do anything. I watch what I eat and try to eat healthly, but I also exercise too by simply walking everyday. Parents need to take away the vidoe games and click the TV off, and kids and parents will start to slim down. Go outside and play, unless it’s raining. Then TV is allowed.

We are talking about excesses here people. I do take my children out for a “Happy Meal” once in a while. My wife cooks during the week and my kids are not pillows with legs. If America would smarten up and not live on fast food and make the kids go out and play each day we would not have an obesity problem in this country. Fast Food and video games to excess will ruin your health. Smarten Up!

The stats from the link are a complete disgrace. That supposed thinking americans would feed this shite to their children should be a criminal offense. It’s no wonder this country is in the state it is in. We are producing generation upon generation of obese, lazy, drug induced progeny. With the current state of our gene pool, the chinese, along with the rest of the third worlds will own and conquer us. Sic Semper Americanus

BULL! This article feeds into “it’s always somebody else’s fault. It defies the law of economics. If there is no demand there will be no supply. It’s all the company’s fault! What do little kids drive themselves to McDonald’s and use a credit card to buy a Happy Meal? Hell no! Their parents take them and buy it for them. They should be talking to parents instead of the restaurants. Their probably democrats who view all corps. as evil!

What happened to cooking a decent meal for your kids? And… Given that portion sizes now are double, triple and even quadruple the size they were 25 years ago - who can be surprised? We eat. And eat. And eat some more.
