Local KFC closes as of this morning
The KFC restaurant at 3010 Kettering Boulevard near West Dorothy Lane in Kettering closed today.
Chris Chrzanowski, Dayton operations manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants, said the Dayton area’s poor economy combined with the fact that the Kettering restaurant was an outdated facility led to the decision to close. There are no plans to close other Dayton-area KFC restaurants, Chrzanowski said.
The restaurant’s 16 employees were reassigned to other area KFCs, including the restaurants at 1027 Brown St. in Dayton, 2109 E. Dorothy Lane in Kettering and 6239 Far Hills Ave. in Centerville, Chrzanowski said.
“We thank everyone who patronized us in the past. Hopefully, someday we might return,” he said.

That KFC closed because it was disgusting and staffed by people with IQs lower than slugs. Three times we went there and they were OUT OF CHICKEN. How does that happen? And they screwed up our order EVERY TIME. EVERY SINGLE TIME. They’re not out of business because of Walmart; they’re out of business because they were run so poorly. Wendy’s isn’t having a problem, right next door…

I live just down the road from that KFC. Poor service, always visible health violations, “slow as snails” speed, filthy dining area… “Corporate” had to close it because they failed to “keep their finger on it.” Now those lazy employees are peppered through their other stores and will likely “infect them” with their “enthusiasm.”

That KFC did NOT close because of WalMart. It closed because it was filthy. FILTHY!!! The workers were slow and not very hygienic. I once saw a roach walk out there shaking his head like, “Now that’s disgusting!” That KFC needed to go.

I’m glad. I stopped going there a couple of years ago after I filed a Health Department complaint against them. I can’t stand people that want to play with their feet in the dining area, then touch your food. Love KFC, but that location was worthless.

Why not open a fast food restaurant that serves geese? There is a ready supply of them in the area, so the restaurant should be able to turn a profit. As it is, many of them are ending up as road kill. The restaurant could be named KFG (Kentucky Fried Geese). l. is

Clean up the city of Dayton and you will have better suburbs. The city is where job creation comes from and if the city declines so will the suburbs!

After having dined at KFC for over 3 decades, their refusal to honor the free meal coupons in May, completely turmed me against the chain. It’s a pity, as I love the taste of the colonel’s chicken.

Walmart may certainly have contributed to the decline of the area. But Walmart was preferable to the section 8 housing they were thinking of putting in

Joe and Wal-Mart Economics are correct. That particular Wal-Mart has created quite a problem for Moraine and Kettering police. Although the area had already started deteriorating years ago, Wal-Mart has made it substantially worse. I will not allow my elderly parents shop there, nor will I go there. It’s sad, when I was a kid, that was quite an area. Urban blight is creeping into the suburbs.

Took the kids there 2 days ago. Lousy intercom. World’s narrowest drive-thru lane.

To those who do not understand Big Box Economics, let me break it down for you since you seem to think Joe is a moron. Wal-Mart moves in -> smaller stores (hardware, convenience stores, drug stores, candy stores, etc.) go out of business -> local unemployment rises -> at first, KFC & others near Wal-Mart boom -> unemployment turns to crime -> crime scares away customers and unemployment dries up wallets -> KFC closes. I am not saying I agree or disagree with Joe, but that is most likely the point he is trying to drive home. If you disagree with Joe, then say so and give good reason; but if you don’t understand what Joe is saying, that doesn’t make him a moron, it makes you a moron. Look it up.

FYI: The Ci-Ci’s right across the street is one of the ones that were closed down as well. And that Taco Bell isn’t much better off I wouldn’t be surprised if that one closes down as well.

Oh no, one less KFC. What ever will we do? I’d be more concerned if the awesome Thai place on Wilmington Ave closed. It’s busy every day — great food and service always draws business.

Been there a few times when I briefly worked in that area. And I can’t say that I’m not surprised. That area in particular is starting to see a decline. And the service every time I went there was absolutely HORRIBLE.
