TweetRecord turnout for OSU baseball’s ‘Meet the Team’ night
From OhioStateBuckeyes.com
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Diamond Club, Ohio State’s booster organization for the baseball program that has been doing good things since its beginning in 1989, held its annual “Meet the Team” night Saturday at the University Plaza Hotel. And judging by the turnout of Diamond clubbers, friends of the program, family members of the players and the coaching staff, and alumni, interest in the 2011 Ohio State baseball season and the start of the Greg Beals coaching era is incredibly high.
“This is by far the largest Meet the Team event we have ever had,” Diamond Club treasurer Jim Durham enjoyed telling the crowd. “We had 338 people RSVP for this dinner. Our annual golf outing is July 25 so I suggest if you want a foursome in that event you better sign up early.”
There were players’ families - some from as far away as Florida, Virginia, Maryland and Eastern Pennsylvania - and many first-time families at the event as the team features 15 first-year players. There was a large contingent of Beals’ family members from Springfield, Ohio, including his mother and step-father, Karlene and Mark Keating, and his grandparents, too, along wife, Kathy, and daughters Kayla, Amber and Morgan. TweetHiram stuns Wabash
From the Journal Review:
Wabash basketball coach Mac Petty preached to his players about the need to guard Hiram freshman Aaron Stefanov.
Stefanov might have only averaged 9.3 points per game entering Saturday’s contest at Chadwick Court, but he came off the bench to score 11 points in the previous meeting between the two teams. After going 1-for-7 from the field in the opening half, Stefanov was a perfect 5-for-5 from 3-point range in the second half, leading the Terriers to a 70-58 victory over No. 13 Wabash.
Saturday was Hiram’s first win at Chadwick Court since Wabash joined the NCAC in 1999-2000. Wabash, which was coming off a 69-68 victory at then No. 1-ranked Wooster on Feb. 5, dropped to 17-5 and 9-5 in the NCAC.
Hiram improved to 12-11 and 6-8 in the NCAC. Complete story.
