High school nicknames: From A-Z

The Ohio High School Athletic Association has compiled a list of the school nicknames used in Ohio, organized by popularity.

Seven of the 10 most popular nicknames are used by area schools: Tigers (36 schools in Ohio); Wildcats (33), Indians (24), Warriors (24), Falcons (17) and Trojans (16).

One hundred and 17 schools in Ohio have nicknames not used by another school in the state. One of those is the Hilllclimbers of Urbana. Other interesting ones: the Punchers (Mifflin), Whippets (Shelby), Zeps (Shenandoah), Ceramics (Crooksville) and Jeeps (South Webster).
