DeWitt thanks his wife after 200th win
Catholic Central head coach Steve DeWitt made sure he gave credit where it was due on Friday night when his Irish beat Northwestern 20-0, giving the 32nd-year Irish mentor his 200th career win. “God bless my wife,” said DeWitt. “I can’t imagine walking through all these seasons without her. “We’ve been married 29 years,” DeWitt continued. “When I proposed to her it was Christmas Eve, and I was living here at the field (Hallinean Field) in the coaching residence. “I had the opportunity to propose to her on the 50-yard line. I asked her if she could take this and all that it included, along with me. And when she said yes, that made everything right for me. “She is just so fundamentally important to everything we’ve done here.” Many folks don’t realize how much successful coaches’ wives sacrifice, and DeWitt wanted everyone to know how important his better half is to him and to the wildly-successful Irish program. DeWitt is now 200-133-1 in his career.

He really does appreciate his wife! All men should take a lesson from Steve on how to treat their wives.
